The Power of Giving: Time, Money, and a Commitment to Change

When I became the Director of Development at CenterPointe in March, after nearly 20 years in nonprofit work, I was often asked, "Why?" It's a question that comes when someone makes a shift. But for me, the answer was clear: CenterPointe truly embodies its mission of helping people "get better, sooner, for longer." My connection to this organization runs deep, from my undergraduate internship here nearly 15 years ago. I promised myself back then that if the opportunity ever arose, I would return. Now, I'm fulfilling that promise, and it feels like coming home.

In my short time here, I have witnessed an incredible dedication to community well-being. The passion, innovation, and collaboration at CenterPointe are beyond inspiring. Our team is working toward creating a stronger, healthier state for everyone. But alongside these inspiring efforts, I have also seen the stark reality of our growing challenges: an immense need for services, ongoing cuts to funding, and a waitlist that keeps growing longer.

We do everything in our power daily to meet the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors and friends, but we can't do it alone. And here's the important part—it's not just about making a financial donation. Of course, financial support is essential, but there are so many ways to contribute to CenterPointe's mission. Sharing our social media posts, telling someone about our work, and donating much-needed items—these actions make a huge impact, too.

CenterPointe offers over 40 programs designed to meet people where they are and provide critical support. From just-in-time scheduling that ensures people know when their medications need refills or when their next doctor's appointment is, to our primary care, psychiatric services, veterans programming, support groups, housing, street outreach, and same-day access—our services offer hope. When someone reaches out to us, they can trust that we will be there. That small window between asking for help and receiving it is crucial, and we are committed to making sure no one feels unheard.

But to sustain and grow this work, we need more than just the efforts of our staff. We need all of us—our community, supporters, and people like you.

In a world that feels increasingly divided and difficult, places like CenterPointe are working tirelessly to ensure that folks have an opportunity to get healthier. We allow individuals to be seen, heard, and to create their own journey toward healing. When you support us, whether through a donation of time, money, or simply sharing our message, you are partnering with us in this work. You are part of the solution. You are helping create a state where everyone has a chance to thrive.

So, today, I ask you to consider joining us in this mission. If you are already one of our supporters, thank you. Your partnership means more than just financial support—it means that together, we are offering hope and making a lasting difference.

Every action counts. Every dollar counts. Together, we can ensure that more people get the help they need, when they need it. Because at CenterPointe, we believe in a brighter future for everyone.
